Phoenix artist Mayme Kratz creates hauntingly beautiful works from a multitude of materials. Her sense of self and purpose are perfectly captured by Suzanne Johnson's film. 

 

I recognized right away that a minimalist musical approach spoke to her work and the film. I chose instruments not usually associated with minimalism; guitar, harmonica, trumpet & and some piano. I hope that the music feels organic, like Mayme Kratz's gentle/strong work and Suzanne Johnson' s memorable film.

 

This film is currently being aired on PBS stations nationwide.
